  1. I am almost mistaked the kitty for one of the stuffed animals? Do Amy and kitty get a long good? Is she a social cat?

  2. Ah, its hard to type on the japanese keyboards. Look at all those errors. I had another question…can you give me some suggestions on what foods to try out for Blake?

  3. Amy loves the kitty. The kitty generally stays away from Amy, but tolerates her very well when they do get in reach of each other. The kitty’s a bit shy around strangers but very affectionate once she gets to know you.

Foods to try? I’m no expert by any means, and by now Blake can eat more textured things than Amy can. Hmmm. Well, here’s what I’ve done.

Frozen veggies, like green beans, corn, and peas — cook some in the microwave (or steam them or boil them in just enough water that you don’t have to drain them), then chop in the blender with enough water to get a texture Amy can handle. Fresh veggies and fruit — cook in enough water that you don’t have to drain them, and blend.

Then I pour the blended food into ice cube trays to freeze, and once frozen I pop out the cubes and store in freezer bags.

We introduced yogurt last week — I would just put a big dollop of plain yogurt in a bowl and add a thawed cube of fruit.

Also, when we’re eating a meal, I might give her bits of what we’re eating if it’s something she’s already had. Peas, corn, or green beans, squished between my fingers. Bits of fresh nectarine. I let her gum an apple core after I’ve eaten the apple (I hold it for her so she doesn’t eat the stem or blossom end). You can mash or cut up banana. And she eats Cheerios and oat or barley baby cereal.

Oh, and I usually buy a jar of squash or sweet potato since those are things we usually don’t have in the house so it’s easier to get a jar than buy and cook them.

One last thing — if there’s something Blake really likes, you might try mixing into it a little bit of something he’s not so fond of. He may be willing to eat the mixture, and you can gradually increase the proportion of the stuff he’s not fond of.

    Love and miss you.

  6. Tamara,

I have every intention of taking some photos of the place, but I was hoping to wait until all the pictures have been hung, an area rug found for the living room, and so on and so forth. I should probably just do it.

  7. Thanks for your input. I found the freezing of fruits and veggies to be interesting. I’ve never heard of anyone doing that before. I guess it is nice to have on hand and not require cooking each day. I am going to take your suggestion about mixing what Blake really likes into things he is not too fond of. Maybe that will help. I will let you know. He is so picky.
