Buttons

1. This afternoon I went out to get the elastic and buttons to finish Amy’s dress. Took me a long time to find the right buttons, but they’re very cute — the right color blue with a tiny hand-drawn-looking white outline near the edge. The buttons are on (even though I couldn’t find my sewing machine’s buttonhole foot), the bloomers are sewn, and the elastics are threaded through the casings. I just need to try the bloomers on her to get the elastics the right lengths.

2. Right now I’m listening to Mark give Amy a bath. They’re having a good time. Lots of little happy screeches. And I like hearing the way he talks to and plays with her.

3. Snow, even though it’s not the season.

4. I appreciate the other bloggers I read.

5. Art and music and sewing and cooking and all the many other ways we are given to be creative — where there is pleasure and beauty and not just functionality or bare necessity.
