What I meant was, if I move this stuffed sunshine toy where you can’t see it, will you take interest in something else that’s less frustrating?
But as soon as I said it, I thought, you know, that could mean something else… I hope I will not often try to save Amy from disappointment by taking away her hopes, dreams, ideas… even the ones that are frustrating to reach for.
What an interesting thought.
And at 4 months, she’d probably forget about the sun quite quickly. At that age, out of site is pretty much out of mind, at least according to Piaget.
Ahhh… the good old days when I was doing research on topics like this.

I remember reading about Piaget when I was getting my teaching certificate, but I didn’t remember what age he said object permanence starts to develop. Amy seems to be aware when we leave the room — she complains — but then she stops after a while, like she only remembers for a minute that we used to be in there.
