Guess what…

…Amy is doing lately?

  • Starting to laugh — two or three chuckles yesterday
  • Holding onto a toy and getting it into tasting position — and today she passed a spoon from one hand to the other
  • Starting to develop sitting up and rolling over muscles and movements
  • Growing — she weighed 13 lbs 9 oz yesterday, and the 0-3 month clothes have been put away, and the newborn head guard has been removed from her car seat
  • Recognizing her bottle and pacifier — her cry changes when she sees them and she reaches
  • Considering enjoying her bath — she isn’t having fun yet, but last time she didn’t cry
  • Vocalizing — she makes a variety of sounds and cries — differing in vowel and volume and tone — not much in the way of consonants yet
  • Blowing bubbles and trying to suck on the front of her shirt or the edge of the sling or whatever else is in sight
  • Waking up too often during the night the last two days; the public health nurse who visited yesterday said she could be starting to work on a tooth already, or she may be responding to weather changes
  • Napping during the day a little less often but for a little longer time

  1. Isn’t it amazing how fast they grow? It is such an amazing time of life! Just wanted to say “hi” and let you know that I am still checking in and I am still praying for all of you.

  3. What a wonderful description. I used to do developmental psych research with infants (my masters thesis study was done with 5 month olds but I worked with babies as young as 2 months). I’ll never forget watching a 2 month old discover that she could get her feet in her mouth. I loved watching learning and development in action. Treasure these times. They grow and develop so fast. You’ll see new things almost every day.
